IOSAT is a thyroid blocking agent that protects the body from absorbing radioactive iodine released from a damaged nuclear power plant or an atomic bomb. By saturating the thyroid gland with stable iodine, no additional (radioactive) iodine can be absorbed. The active ingredient, potassium iodide, is safe for infants, children, and pregnant women.
